Why This Event Matters
The GLO Preemies NorCal Baby Shower is a pivotal initiative aimed at supporting and uplifting families with infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), particularly within the Black community. Black infants face significant health disparities, including a preterm birth rate that is 49% higher than that of other populations. This elevated rate of preterm births contributes to higher infant mortality rates among Black infants.
Additionally, Black families often encounter unique challenges during NICU stays, such as experiences of discrimination and inadequate family support. These challenges can lead to increased stress and anxiety during an already difficult time.
By hosting the NorCal Baby Shower, GLO Preemies aims to:
- Provide Essential Resources: Offer vital information and tools to help families navigate the NICU journey and beyond.
- Foster Community Connections: Create a supportive network where families can share experiences and build lasting relationships.
- Promote Health Equity: Address disparities by ensuring that all families, regardless of background, have access to the support and care they need.

This event is open to NICU families, expecting parents, and preemie caregivers who are looking for support, resources, and community connections. We highly encourage Black NICU Families to join as they are the largest demographic with NICU children.
Yes! We welcome families to bring their little ones to share in this special experience. You will have a plus one ticket.
