Ashley Randolph recognized the urgent need to address the disparities faced by Black NICU families, not only in the NICU but also at home and in educational settings. Systemic racism permeates these environments, creating barriers that affect vulnerable infants and follow them as they grow into children, often encountering inequitable healthcare, therapeutic, and educational systems.
Ashley is the African American mother of three preemies and the founder of GLO Preemies (www.GloPreemies.org), as well as the co-founder of the Alliance for Black NICU Families. She has served as Chair of the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) and has been a dedicated member of its board for seven years. Additionally, she is part of the Community Engagement Board at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
Ashley’s accolades include being named Mrs. America's Virtuous Woman 2021. She is the author of the autobiography Black, Pregnant, and Shamed, which chronicles her experiences with three high-risk pregnancies and preterm births, and the co-author of Will Our Egg Hatch Early. She owns GLO Preemies TV on Roku.
Ashley hosted The Ashley Randolph Show podcast for three years and is now the host of Invisible on the Alive Podcast Network, where she continues her mission of advocating for racial and health equity. She also serves on the advisory boards of numerous companies and organizations.
Her passion is to provide continuous and family-centered care to African American families in low-income communities nationwide, striving to create a more equitable future for all.
At GLO Preemies, our dedicated impact is driven by a small yet passionate team of five individuals who wholeheartedly believe in the transformative power of compassion and support for premature babies and their families. Each team member brings a unique set of skills and expertise, working seamlessly to ensure that our mission of providing comprehensive care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is met with unwavering dedication. From program coordinators ensuring families receive the assistance they need, to communication specialists amplifying our message, and administrators meticulously managing operations, our small team embodies the spirit of resilience and commitment. Despite our size, we take pride in the personal connections we forge with the families we serve, fostering a sense of community and unity in our pursuit of a brighter future for these tiny fighters. Together, we stand firm in our belief that even a small team can create a significant impact and nurture hope in the hearts of those who need it most.
